The extreme weather and cold hits North America this year. Imagine if we could have bowl of hot sweet soup to kick off the cold, how nice would it be? Let me introduce you a traditional and popular Taiwanese desserts, Brown Sugar Ginger & Sweet Potato Mochi Balls desserts, which is super easy to make, to keep your body and stomach warm!
Ingredients
- Frozen Baked Sweet Potato 1pack(~550g) (May replace it with fresh sweet potato or taro)
- Handmade Crispy Brown Sugar Ginger Slice 30g
- Brown Sugar 40g(add as you like(can be omitted))
- Salt 1/8tsp
- Water 1300ml
- K.K Orchard Sweet Potato/Taro Dice (You can add more sweet potato balls if you want)
How to make it?
Defrost Frozen Baked Sweet Potato:
- Place the frozen baked sweet potato in the refrigerator one day in advance
- Steam Cooker: Place the frozen baked sweet potato into the steam cooker. No need to add water to the outer pot. Heat it up for 3~5 minutes
- Microwave: Take the frozen baked sweet potatoes out of the package, adjust the power of the microwave to 700W, and heat for 2-3 minutes
Using Frozen Baked Sweet Potato:
- Defrost the baked sweet potato, and then peel off the skin. Cut it into hob shape or irregular shape
- Put about 1300ml of water in the pot, add brown sugar-flavored old ginger slices (you can put more if you like stronger ginger flavor)
- After the water boils, add the sweet potato
- You may add more brown sugar once the water boils again. The amount of sugar can be increased or decreased according to personal preference.
- Add a little bit of salt to neutralize the sweetness, and it tastes milder~
- Turn to medium-low heat and cover the pot, simmer for 15-20 minutes, then it's ready to serve~
Using fresh sweet potato or taro:
- Wash and peel the sweet potato/taro, cut into a hob shape. You may cut 1/2~2/3 of the sweet potato/taro, and then break off the rest with a knife, so that the section of the sweet potato/taro will taste better
- Put about 1300ml of water in the pot, add brown sugar-flavored old ginger slices (you can put more if you like stronger ginger flavor)
- After the water boils, add the sweet potato/taro
- You may add more brown sugar once the water boils again. The amount of sugar can be increased or decreased according to personal preference.
- Add a little bit of salt to neutralize the sweetness, and it tastes milder~
- Turn to medium-low heat, cook the sweet potato/taro until it is soft enough that chopsticks can pass through easily, then it's ready to serve!
To add the K.K Orchard Sweet Potato/Taro Dice:
- Boil a new pot of water, put the sweet potato balls/taro balls into the pot
- Cook until the sweet potato balls float, and then cook for another 2 ~ 3 minutes, wait until the sweet potato balls have puffed up, then remove and add to the sweet soup to eat
