Braised Beef Soup(with Beef Shank)
Braised Beef Soup (with Beef Shank)
Everyone has their own version of beef noodle soup, but not every bowl makes you stop after the first sip and think, “Oh. This is the one.” Our Braised Beef Soup (with Beef Shank) is all about that feeling — and the secret is simple: slow, patient cooking.
We start with a base of beef bones, simmered low and slow with over a dozen aromatics, spices, and seasonings. The result is a deep, savory red-braised broth that’s rich but not heavy, full of beef flavor with gentle spice and a little lingering sweetness in the back. It’s the kind of broth you’ll want to drink down to the very last drop.
In every pack, you’ll also find our house favorite braised beef shank — tender yet still pleasantly chewy, with that perfect balance of lean and tendon. Each piece is braised until the flavor goes all the way through, so every bite is full of beefy richness, soy-braised aroma, and just the right amount of bite.
The spicy level is a gentle, mild spice — flavorful enough for chili lovers to enjoy, yet mellow enough that many kids can still handle it. Think “comforting warmth” rather than “blow-your-head-off spicy.”
※ Photos are for serving suggestions. Actual contents include broth and beef shank. Beef tendon shown in some images is available as an optional add-on, not included by default.
Cooking Instructions (click to expand)
This is a frozen red-braised beef soup with beef shank. For the best flavor and food safety, heat until the soup is at a full boil and the beef is hot all the way through.
Microwave heating is not recommended, as it can cause uneven heating and affect both the broth and beef texture.
1️⃣ Stovetop (most recommended)
- Remove the pouch from the freezer and let it thaw slightly in the fridge or at room temperature.
- Cut open the pouch and pour the soup and beef shank into a pot.
- If you prefer a lighter broth, you can add a little water to adjust the saltiness and richness to your taste.
- Heat over medium to medium-low heat until the soup comes to a full rolling boil. Let it bubble for a few more minutes to ensure the beef is heated through.
- To make beef noodle soup: cook noodles separately, place them in a bowl, then ladle the hot beef soup and shank over the top. Add bok choy, scallions, or pickled mustard greens if you like.
To enjoy with rice: serve the beef and broth in a bowl and use the extra sauce as the perfect “over-rice” companion.
2️⃣ Electric cooker / rice cooker (hands-off option)
- For best results, thaw the pouch fully in the refrigerator first.
- Cut open the pouch and pour everything into the inner pot of your rice cooker.
- Add a small amount of water if you prefer a milder broth. Add water to the outer pot as you usually would (about 1 cup), then start the cooker.
- When it switches to “warm,” stir the soup gently and check that it has come to a boil at least once and that the beef is hot in the center. If needed, run one more short cycle.
3️⃣ Hot water bath (minimal cleanup)
- Move the pouch from the freezer to the fridge or room temperature until it is partially or fully thawed.
- Without opening the pouch, place it into a pot of boiling water. Make sure the water level fully covers the pouch.
- Keep at a gentle boil for about 10–12 minutes, turning the pouch occasionally so it heats evenly.
- Carefully remove the pouch, cut it open, and pour the soup and beef shank into a bowl. You can enjoy it as is, or transfer to a small pot to add noodles or vegetables and heat a bit more.
※ For best enjoyment, make sure the soup has reached a full boil and the beef shank is piping hot in the center before serving.
※ Any noodles, vegetables, eggs, or additional toppings shown in photos are serving suggestions only and are not included.
Tips & Notes (click to expand)
- Please store in the freezer upon arrival and enjoy before the “best by” date on the package for optimal flavor and texture.
- Once opened and heated, we do not recommend refreezing. If you have leftovers, refrigerate and finish within 1–2 days.
- This soup is mildly spicy. Many children can enjoy it, but if someone is very sensitive to spice, start with a smaller portion and adjust as needed.
- This product contains beef and may contain soy, wheat, or other allergens. Please refer to the ingredient label on the package for full allergen information.
