Golden Feast Braised Napa Cabbage|A Comfort Dish Packed with Layered Umami
Braised napa cabbage is one of those dishes that instantly reminds people of home, family, and mom’s cooking. At BROTH, we treat this as a true “skill-test” comfort dish — simple on the outside, but full of patience, technique, and carefully layered flavor inside.
We start by slow-simmering a rich broth made from beef bones and pork bones, with no artificial flavor enhancers. Then we deepen the flavor by adding our signature Organic Chicken Essence, so every bite not only tastes more savory and rounded, but also brings a little extra nourishment to your everyday table — a way to gently take care of you, even on your most tired, busy days.
To build even more depth, we use dried flatfish (a classic ingredient that’s hard to find in the U.S.): we lightly toast it, then grind it into a fine powder so that its toasty ocean richness melts right into the broth instead of sitting on top. On top of that, we add premium dried scallops from Hokkaido, giving the dish a delicate, natural sweetness from the sea.
Hidden inside the soft, tender napa cabbage is a whole world of tiny details — the savoriness of land and sea, the depth of the bone broth, the richness of chicken essence, and the sweetness of vegetables, all woven together. It’s a true “golden feast” in one pot and an easy choice for that dish that always disappears first once it hits the table.

- Open the package and pour the contents into a pot. If you prefer a bit more broth, you may add a small amount of drinking water.
- Heat over medium to medium-low heat, stirring gently from time to time, until the dish comes to a full boil and everything is heated through.
- You can add extra mushrooms, tofu, glass noodles, or your favorite hot pot ingredients to make it even more hearty and generous.
2. Rice Cooker / Electric Cooker
- Let the pouch thaw slightly, then cut it open and pour the contents into a heat-safe bowl or inner pot. Cover with a lid.
- Place the bowl into the rice cooker, add about half a cup of water to the outer pot, and start the cooker.
- When it switches to “warm,” let it sit for a few minutes, then check to make sure the cabbage and broth are fully hot before serving.
3. Hot Water Bath
- Allow the frozen pouch to soften slightly at room temperature or in the fridge.
- Place the unopened pouch into a pot of simmering water, making sure the water level fully covers the pouch.
- Heat over medium heat for about 8–10 minutes, or until the contents are thoroughly hot.
- Carefully remove, cut open the pouch, and pour into a serving bowl before enjoying.
※ Storage:Keep frozen. Best quality up to about six months; please refer to the package for the exact best-by date.
